Happy Chinese New Year fokes! It's my year and this is my first time celebrating CNY in New York! Yes, the year of the Dragon. You would think that's a good thing for me but based on 'fung sui' it's actually a bad thing if your Chinese Zodiac is featured on the year but heck, I'm being positive and I know darn well this year is going to be better than before.

Was blessed to celebrate Chinese New Year with very close friends.

For Christmas I attended my very first masquerade party. It was hosted by two very friendly Malaysians and it was a nice touch that they decided to have a theme for the party. Bought a bottle of wine for the host and damn, even before we got into the apartment we could hear Malaysians talking from where I was standing outside.

When it's crazy noisy, you know it's going to be a good party.

After owning a MacBook for 3 and a half years, it died on me. My initial reaction was "Mother of God, I have to buy a new laptop?!" thankfully it's just the battery for the MacBook which will cost $140. After 3 years plus, that's the only problem that I've encountered with my Mac. I download tons and I've never gotten any viruses which is what I love about the Mac. For the price that I was paying $1k plus, yah I have to admit, compared to a Microsoft, it definitely wasn't worth the price but heck, I don't regret it, definitely will never go back to the Microsoft.

Me being in denial with the fact that my iPhone is dead, so I leave it on my work station in loving memory of it #firstworldproblems. Nail polish is always there for the roommates and myself to touch up our nails. Freaking cables to upload my pictures (I'm trying to take more pictures with my Canon). L'Oreal hairspray that I just bought for 50% off (what what!!) Hair conditioner (??) and an umbrella because it's been raining off and on.

My trusting Cranberry Woods from Bath and Body Works that was on sale for $9. Really calms the nerves and one of the first things that I do when I'm surfing the net, light up my baby candle and calm the hell down after a long day at work.

Didn't achieve my goal last month of getting that dream position and I honestly felt like crap.

But heck, I was very grateful that a nobody like me was considered with a large pool of over qualified candidates.

Don't mind the shitty quality of the camera. Weather is getting mad chilling and going partying/clubbing is even worst. Ah how did Saturday night become so fun but so dramatic at the end. Note to men, if you can't hold your liquor don't drink too much. Know your limit because you really don't wanna look stupid in front of a lady.

Probably the first time I've experienced going to a club and my friends ordering fried chicken and fries. Wtf. Never in my life have I had food in a club before but turns out it's pretty normal to have food and fruits in Korean clubs. 2 bottles of whisky and table next to us kept giving me Moët. Lily O'Brien's chocolate cafe is my favorite cozy place for a warm hang out spot. I don't drink coffee so their different types of hot chocolates are really a big plus point for me. Plus it's only a 3 minute walk away for me from my office. Their chocolates are delicious and do try out their macarons.

Hot chocolate with the best friend everyday after work. I really wouldn't mind :) though the calories might kill me one day.

Two weeks ago, went for a delicious dinner at a Japanese restaurant with doc. The crew called me up and they were heading to TenJune. Headed to TenJune in my office clothes, wtf. Surprisingly the club was packed and music was pretty good. No one checked my ID and there was no cover charge.

Everyone was still pretty pumped (and drunk) after a few hours and we decided to bring the party to Circle. Boys had to wait outside the club to get their contact and we ladies went in first.

So Daphne and Nina were at the coat check, I walked in and the 3 of us girls starts chatting up a storm with em and the coat check boys let us check in our coats for free. Circle's doormans were so sweet and gave us drink tickets. The beauty of clubbing with a bunch of ladies; free swag.

So yesterday I went out with the roomie for dinner to catch up on life at China Town NYC. Was walking around the area and this beauty shop caught my eye. I was actually looking for new My Beauty Diary mask cause I was running out of them. I usually use one sheet of My Beauty Diary Mask once a week. It's a great soothing rewarding me-to-me time that I give myself and it's also great for the skin. It is directed to use the mask for 30 minutes but I just use it for an hour. After taking off the mask, I usually just go to sleep. You don't need to wash off the serum as instructed on the packaging.

So far I've used.

So far my favorite is the Black Pearl Mask. I love the scent.

This time I wanted to try a different and I randomly picked the Natto set. I don't read Chinese, so I had no idea what it does specifically. Bought it for only $10.90 which is cheaper than Sasa; $12.70. Packet of 10 mask.

Went back home and later realized that it was for aging skin. Didn't matter to me. I still used it.

Wednesday came by and it was announced that Hurricane Irene was going to happen on my birthday.

FML.

Seriously. The one month of planning gone. Thankfully Friday was still pretty clear out so I scrambled to get everyone and we partied on Friday night. Was planning to get into Hiro but because the line was too long (everyone was getting their party on before the hurricane started) we had to head to The Park ( we even tried to get a bottle but the tables were full FML).

Overall there were about 15 of us partying. Birthday this year was awesome!

Good afternoon!

Feeling pretty damn good when I woke up this morning. Positive vibe when I woke up this morning and drank half of my tea before I had to run to the bus.

My weekend was, to be honest, bad. Nothing went my way. A lot of events were canceled and people just didn't react the way that I thought they would. Plus I was mopping around the house on a Sunday, after my plans were canceled. Was feeling rather lazy too. I blame it on the weather really, it's getting pretty cold in NY and the weather makes you eat more and it definitely makes you wanna stay in bed with your comforters over your head.

But heck, it's a new week. Staying positive, everyone at the office are very happy and energetic which is pretty rare for a Monday.

If you had a shitty week or day, try waking up the next morning and tell yourself it's gonna be a great day. It really helps.

I've had a problem with waking up in the morning for work for a while. I always end up snoozing my alarm and I end up wasting 30 minutes of getting ready time (sounds familiar to you?). But lately I've been able to wake up on time at 7 a.m. and it's such a luxury.

This morning while waiting bus to arrive, I saw this owner and his dog walking. I couldn't help but feel sorry for his dog. He kept yanking the dog leash in a very rough manner. I could hear the dog howl from time to time. I gave the owner a dirty look. He noticed and he stopped yanking the poor dog. Finally, the owner placed the dog leash on one of the pipes in front of the restaurant. My bus arrived and I don't know. I felt pretty bad and sad for the dog. I felt like the owner took the dog as an errant or a chore.

Don't ever take in a pet if you know that you can't commit 110% towards it.

Just went through an interview and I personally think that I tanked it. It was by far the hardest most challenging interview I've had in my life. I love how after every interview and receiving the rejection letter, it feels like I'm breaking up with someone or being rejected by a guy.

The very sad situation in my office. I guess I was too pampered in my previous jobs and there was always a kitchen spot for you to heat up your food and there would always be a kitchen table.

So my co workers usually eat out and for me, I personally prefer home cooked food. I am very blessed that my room mates are amazing cooks ( I swear I'm horrible at cooking) so they would cook dinner and when there are left overs I'll bring em over for lunch, plus it also saves cost.

Now at my new job, this is what I get. A microwave and 2 tiny fridge. Full-freaking-spot. Not to mention behind me, there's an elevator and beside that table are boxes.

wtf.

The company has been around for 35 over years and I'm guessing eating in was never the culture. So when they moved to a bigger unit, they never thought about having a kitchen.

Don't think they will have a legit kitchen area but heck, I can only hope.

Ran around the city today getting some interviews done over the Financial District. I can literally get lost in Financial District due to their winding roads, I actually got a little lost and was almost late for my interview. Ran around with my iPhone in hand and I remembered passing by the famous Charging Bull statue, tons of tourist taking pictures and as usual there were one or two people grabbing the bulls balls. wtf.

Thankfully made it on time (heck I made it 15 minutes earlier) but I was drenched in sweat due to the mixture of heat, running and the blazer that I was wearing. Got done with interview 1 and ran over to interview 2 thankfully in the same area. Yenn texted me and said that she wanted to meet up for lunch over at ChinaTown (my favorite place in NY because there's good food and also close by to SoHo which has amazing shops). Agreed to it and took the sub over there after my second interview.

In I walked and I wasn't wearing my contact lens or my glasses, I was ordering my food and suddenly saw a figure that was seating at the deep end of the store waving at my direction, mind you there were at least 6 people in line. So I ignored it because the figure looked like a man and I was expecting Yenn. Few seconds later that figure was still waving at my direction and I'm like what is up!? Who is this person waving to and why isn't anyone responding.

So I walked over, thinking "hey maybe it was of my random guy friends waving at me." I walked closer and the figure seemed to look familiar and began to take shape.

Suddenly it hit me.

OMFG.

It's E!!

I ran over and gave him a bear hug!!

"OMFG WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

hahah..what an exciting day! E's gonna be in New York to party with me on my birthday and it's gonna be MAJAH! Also girlfriend Izzah will be joining us next Monday to party too. Woot!

Oh and Yenn joined us after 20 minutes of me wtf-ing/being shocked.

So this morning was eventful. Pushed myself to go to work extra early to watch the Malaysia vs Singapore game at work. After 30 mins into the game co workes starts camping at my cubical and we were watching the game for the rest of the morning.

Too bad we lost but I loved the energy and support that our Malaysian audience gave though I really thought that the laser thing should be banned and Singapore should show a little bit more sportsmanship.

Last Saturday De Ming hosted a BBQ party at his new apartment. Gosh was it hot, that day was definitely hotter than Malaysia and it was reported that 22 people died around the States due to the heat over that past few days.

Since it was De Ming, Sue Yenn and Sam's birthday in the whole lot, Sue Lynn and I decided to bake 2 cakes.

This year was my first 4th of July celebration out of Michigan and my first time in New Jersey. Hosted a steamboat party which was freaking amazing. Food was good and we played drinking games which was totally fun.

Walked down to the water front to check out Macy's 4th of July famos fire works. Fireworks were lovely but I feel like Malaysia's fireworks are much more epic.

Lets just say that karma is a bitch and now it's biting me in the ass.

I kinda knew this guy that I was dating was a player and I had fun playing the game but thank gosh I left because I felt like I was getting a little emotionally attached to him.

A few signs of a player.

He never plans anything. He will only ask you out on a date last minute or it's spontaneous.
When you try to plan things with him like a date, he tells you that he's too busy or that he's a "spontaneous" kinda person and doesn't like making plans. That's because you're not his priority. You're gonna be his last resort.
He's too good to be true.
He's cute, nice bod, rich, gorgeous style, etc and he's single!? yup, if he isn't gay there might be a possibility that he either has a shitty personality and/or is a player.
Never wants to hang out with your friends.
You hang out with his friends but when you ask him to hang out with your friends, he doesn't want to. That's because he doesn't want to waste his time with your friends and the reason why he wants you to hang out with his is because you're his trophy girl.
Eventually only calls you during the weekends.
The first month you guys hang out after work on the week days, for movie dates and dinner but after a few months and when he's done or bored with you, he only calls you during the weekends when he needs a plus 1 for his party nights.
Hardly picks up your phone calls.
He calls you ever other day during the first 2 months when you're dating but when it's about done with, he starts slowing down on calling you and eventually doesn't call you. When you call, he never picks up and only replies with a text.

You can have fun with a player but once you start to getting emotionally attached, you need to LEAVE!

Just had the longest interview of my life. The interview took one and a half hours and I was interviewed by one after another by 4 people. I was so enthusiastic with the first 2 interviewers but I think I slowly got tired of talking about myself and could feel my mouth drying up.

We went to Zen Restaurant in St Marks. If you're looking for a cheap place to drink, head there cause at 10 p.m. all drinks are 50% off. You're talking about $3 for a cocktail and it's pretty strong too but you need to have a minimum purchase of $10 each. So all of us had 3 drinks each and we were in a darn happy place after :D

Feeling extremely tired. Work has been packed up for the past 3 weeks and by the time I get back home, I want to just crawl into the sheets and sleep but I've been having dinner as early as I can and later work out.

Thank gosh it's Friday.

A month ago, the gang and I went to Central Park for sun tanning and some fun. It was my first time sun tanning and picnicking so I was pretty 'jakun' psyched about it.

Got there and it was so cute! People were hanging up pinata! It was a party.

Big Apple BBQ

Besides the Mermaid Festival, I also checked out the 9th Annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party that took place in Madison Square Park June 11-12, 2011. Trying to check out as many festivals before Winter hits again. Meh. The event was from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM but I got there pretty late at 2 p.m. The weekend-long event occurs every June and brings together the country’s top pitmasters who cooks up their award-winning food for over a 100,000 barbecue enthusiasts.

It's pretty much hell for vegetarians :p

Another 30 minutes till I leave work and I'm already closing my eyes. Can't complain about it though, loving my job and the people here. Tomorrow I'll be given new task to run by, I'm excited yet scared that I'm gonna screw up but people here are very support and super helpful. Pretty lucky I might say.

Just made some Milo in the office and people are already placing their orders because apparently I make a dope ass cup of Milo :) Not too sure about the coffee part since I don't drink coffee but heck at least I know that I'm great at making Milo.

The best part about the Summer time in New York (besides the weather and lovely fashion) is that girlfriends from visits NY.

Girlfriend Crystal visited a few weeks ago and we only hung out for an hour :( but it was great to catch up with her. She'll be travelling to China for a study aboard alone! I'm so proud of her!
